The Bushnell H2O 2.0 Porro 7x50 combines central focusing with a waterproof construction for observation on the water and on land. This model has no built-in compass.
Its IPX7 rating specifies immersion up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. BaK-4 Porro prisms, fully multi-coated optics, an aluminium chassis and a non-slip covering complete the design. Central focusing is useful when changing observation distance. The 7x50 format is bulkier than compact binoculars; secure the strap when using it over water.
A moderate 7x magnification makes hand movement less noticeable than higher magnification, but does not cancel boat movement. The 50 mm objectives suit observation in fading light; ordinary binoculars cannot see in total darkness. Waterproofing does not necessarily mean that binoculars float. Check the protection and care instructions for each model.
